Thanks! I got the wrap from Fabric Empire on amazon [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Glitter-Stardust-SILVER-Upholstery-Fabric/dp/B008UWC3I2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463406336&sr=8-1&keywords=stardust+silver+vinyl"]Amazon.com: Glitter Stardust SILVER Upholstery Vinyl Fabric / 54" Wide / Sold by the yard@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61DcO4vJk7L.@@AMEPARAM@@61DcO4vJk7L[/ame] but there are alot of companies that sell it. You can find the vinyl fabric on ebay as well. Two cover a 4 or 5 piece kit you need 2 yards. It comes in 54" width...so you cut the 54" in half (keep the 6ft length) and go from there.

Mo Tonkie Re: Re-Wrap Vintage Pearl KitThat kit is gorgeous. I'm curious as to how it sounds.

Thanks! Regarding the sound, I am surprised how good the toms sound. I do drum covers on youtube www.youtube.com/ardrummer and I will probably do my next cover with this kit.

DownTownFarmer Re: Re-Wrap Vintage Pearl KitExcellent! Did you glue it down all around or what? Looks pretty bulge/buckle-free...

I used carpet tape at the two ends of the wrap. I left a gap at the top and bottom so the heads would seat correctly. I have a couple small bulges in the wrap that I need to go back and trim more but nothing too bad.

Giving it a go. Got some of this 'wrap' from Amazon in purple sparkle...

I've got several 80s MIT kits; drums that have been piling up over time, all from cheap buys or trades. Just not enough resale value to invest a lot of money with Precision or Jammin Sams. This looks to be a very good, low-cost option.

You should not be surprised at how they sound at all. Years ago the ones who turned their nose up at Japanese drums, and you know who they are, finally break down and admit with good heads and edges they can sound better than most

Finally got a set done.

The 14x22 and 9x13 are actually from a 1970s Pearl W-5 kit.

The 16x16 is a 1980s Tama Swingstar with Pearl lugs (hole spacing exactly the same) so it all matched.

The "Harmony" head is just something I had on hand.

One thing that needs to be noted when using this wrap: I used the tape method. The wrap WILL sag when exposed to enough heat. My wife and sister-in-law had this set in their garage sale, and when the afternoon sun hit it (Friday afternoon, around 80), the wrap began to sag. I had them move them out of the sunlight and back into the garage, and by the next morning (it got down around 50) the wrap tightened back up.

I think I will try a set and glue it down. Not an expensive investment.

Overall, a very good way to affordably rewrap a set that is NOT going to bring big bucks!

BTW-The silver sparkle inlay on the BD hoops is real wrap, from a 1960s Slingerland Concert BD I rewrapped for a school a couple years ago...
