Hi Longjohn.

Thank you for all your support and kind words. I'm just a curious young guy that loves drums and vintage stuff. It's a honor having this nickname.

I'm happy you can feel the essence of what I'm doing here.

Cheers!

Hope those cracks don't grow - because when those are cleaned up - they sure are gorgeous! Can't wait to see them all after you reassemble!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Hi. When I get all the toms/bass drum polished, I'll clean the badges and grommet and try to clean the cracks to make them unnoticeable.

I am so excited as you to see the final result. After getting the shells polished I can assemble it. Only a few parts need to be cleaned such as tom holder and bass drum hoops. I'll clean the snare drum when get the rest of the kit assembled. Cheers

Talking about the red "T" badges...

I will clean and polish them. I think they have a clear coat so I'm assuming it's safe to do it without removing the colors. Anyone can confirm this? Thanks

I tried cleaning a Star made badge - it was the blue round one that simply just only says Made In Japan. Using a microfiber cloth with soapy water (Dawn/water) it really did a number on that badge. I regret cleaning it.

Not sure these Tama badges are the same (but it is the same company) - so BE CAREFUL. Do minimal cleaning as they already look like they are in good shape. I would rather have a dirty one with all its ink than a clean one with ink washed off.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind.

I think the badge has a clear coat, that makes it look shiny. The 16" floortom badge has some marks that I want to remove. I tought I could try the novus 1, or even the 2.

Cheers.

Today I finished the polish on toms and took some photos for you.

Tomorrow I will polish the bass drum.

Later I'll clean the air vents (grommets) ans badges. After that the shells will be ready to assemble.
