The making of the 602's.

Looking at this you might be inclined to think that they were hand hammered. And I'm sure that was the idea that they had in mind.

I don't know who told you that was a Formula 602 but they are wrong. The bell is not correct. Sorry.

Clapping Happy2 WOOOOHOOOO!! Another challenger to the throne of the Drumaholic!! Pull up a comfortable seat boys, this should be good. The Drumaholic usually dispatches of his opposition in a five or six word single sentence but this is a full frontal assault on his cmybolic prowess which could possibly elicit a more lenghty, appropriate response. I can't wait to see how this develops.

Everytime I read these posts involving cymbals and nay sayers I always subliminally hear the nah nah na na na na of the fabled Queen song of old.

I make no challenge, it was a simple observation. If you own a Formula 602 take a look at the bell.

I don't know a formula 602 from a xylophone!!! DOH

I just feel the debates that present themselves on these forums, this one in particular, are where I can learn the most about this stuff. To be totally honest, my left hand still SUCKS, can't even do a good double yet, so I am thinking about putting those damned drums back in the attic and going back to the Tundra forum!!!! I at least know what the hell I am talking about there!!!LoLoLoLo

ciao,

Then I guess that Paiste must have lied, because the entire article that this photo was lifted from was all about the 602's.

Ever think that there is a possibility that it is a 602 and that it is in the process of being made? (I mean that is what the picture is right, an in progress work??)

I actually have the brochure where this picture is used. The page in question is a listing for Ludwig Standard and Stanople cymbals. The picture is labeled "Careful hand hammering of the Paiste Formula 602 disc".

I did not recognize it when I first saw the posted picture but then decided to look through my catalogs. My personal assessment was based on the photo only since the poster in this thread had cut and pasted the photo from the brochure and enlarged it. To me, the bells still do not look F602 however ludwig dude does have a very good point that the cymbal is still unfinished.

To satisfy my natural curiosity, I have sent Paiste an e-mail asking them to verify the contents of the photograph.....if indeed this is even possible.

My apologies to Drumaholic. To drumhack, it's not my style to debate and you will find that to be the case for most of this forum. I'm more interested in learning the factual history and I know that I don't have the knowledge of the vast majority of the members here. Sorry to disappoint you.

Yeah I know what you mean. I don't like to argue either.

On second thought, what is wrong with a good debate? Some of the finest educational institutions in not only the country, but the world support debate teams. And you were "debating" what the other guy said about the cymbal by offering contrary evidence no matter how you choose to phrase it. The most powerful political office in the world is not realized until the candidates "debate" each other at least two or three times. As far as this site goes, I would think a healthy forum (you do know what the Romans used forums for, right?) would be full of debates!! How much is this worth? Well it has this and that so this much. But, it doesn't have that so it is this much. Oh yes, I see that now, but don't forget about this feature. That is a debate.

have a wonderful evening

I was thinking the exact same thing. The guy has the hammer in his hand and while I have never been to a cymbal shop, I am pretty sure they keep the balpeen hammers away from the finished products!!
