The 602's and Paiste's hammer

Loading...

For interest sake, here are a couple of pictures I took through the windows of the hammering rooms at the Paiste factory in Switzerland last year. You can see the hammering machine in the first picture and the table with the various hammer heads on it in the second. There's also a regular hammer sitting there. Maybe it's only used to change out the heads...who knows. If you look at the Nicko McBrain factory tour on Youtube you can see the hand hammerer tweaking the cymbal with regular type ball peen hammer.

Hey Drum dad. No offense is intended here but are you sure that you have a Paiste 602? Your statement was about the bell shape and that picture says Paiste 602 big as life. I have never seen the cymbal in question so, of course, there is probably a big marking that says 602 on it to make this whole post ridiculous. However, people have mis-classified their stuff on here before and had it corrected by the masses. Just a thought. Again, this is not an attack on your cymbalship. guitar3

Have a wonderful evening.

Well, here's my :2Cents:

It may or may not be a Formula 602....since the only other cymbal they had in production at the time was a stambul, it could be that. They used stock photos in those days and the average guy buying a cymbal back then really wouldn't care what the bell shape was as long as it sounded good, so they probably didn't know any better and just used whatever pictures were lying around.

Thank you for your e-mail and your interest in Paiste products.

Your picture shows our factory in 1957.

A young man is hammering a Formula 602 Ride.

The Bell is looking bigger due to moved photograph

as it was in original.

Are you happy with this answer?

I saw this ad many years ago, and I imagined that my favorite drummer , Joe Morello was making my Formula 602 that I saved up $60 to buy.
