Mystery tom - help!!

Hi! This is linked to the Olympic post and it's the mystery tom I got with the kit. I know it's not Premier because of the hardware. One of the shots is of the tom mount and lugs, the other is where I've pulled away some of the ghastly 'wrap' to reveal a covered up badge! Thing is, there's no logo or name on it! It's as if someone has filed it off or something. Very confusing! Anyway, some of you gurus may recognise this tom from lug/badge whatever.

Similarly, if this is worth it, I may try and restore it too.

I dont recognize anything on the drum. The badge looks similiar to a vintage yamaha badge that would be upside down but not exactly the same being the curve is different. Also looks like someone took steel wool or some tool to remove all of the lettering or stamping on the badge. The lugs look weird. I never seen lugs like that. The tom mount looks 1 of the pieces with the part to mount to the drum is missing. Very weird drum. Sorry i cant give you any answers but am curious to see other replies.

Interesting lugs...a pic of the interior of the tom may clear up everything...or may not...

The tom mount looks odd but it's complete, and fits on to the bass drum shown in the olympic forum post. The kit was assembled when I went to collect. Why someone would go to the trouble of fitting hardware onto the olympic bass drum and tom, instead of just fitting the odd tom with an Premier/Olympic mount I dont know! As for the interior, there's no re-rings, I remember that much, but the tom is in the loft at the moment. Wish I knew what it was! I canonly think the badge was filed down so the blue wrap would fit smoothly over it?1

It kind of looks like an enlarged keystone badge with fake Ludwig lugs. It's got me stumped.

The tom mount IS Premier/Olympic. The lugs are very early Yamaha looking to me, and the badge....shaped much like an early Yamaha badge........I'm going with early Yamaha and fitted with a Premier/Olympic tom mount.

Well, getting a bit nearer! Thing is, I've attached a shot of an Olympic from the time, with the same bass drum rods and floor tom hardware etc, with the standard Premier/Olympic mount and badges. I'm pretty sure this is my kit, so I can't see how the mount on the tom is olympic. Did they issue some kits with these mounts or something? Or, did the earlier model olympics have different hardware, and this tom has been put with my kit along with some older hardware?

Its a 60's early 70's vintage Premier/Olympic mount on that tom. The one you have pictured is the later Super Olympic type of mount. Judging by the badges on yours, yours should actually be a Super Olympic kit.

Yep, your right. Looks like I've got old Olympic hardware fitted on a newer olympic kit!

This just gets stranger! Took the contact paper off the tom fully, and was met with black paint and a lot of glue. The paint was covering a wrap. The actually wrap is visible in a few places, most obviously at the point where it meets. (see pic).

Does this shed any light on the identity of the tom? I've included a couple of interior shots too.
