Your new owner REALLY should get the edges cut and invest in new heads.....the difference will blow you all away......provided no shells are to extremely OOR. There is an acceptable variance for that actually. Tuning to the shell really results in good tone even if a shell is OOR.....and BTW - just what I thought....looks gorgeous, even after starting with the 'horrific' condition. Previous owners usually get blown away and have sellers remorse after our hours of love....I mean 'labor'.
It's a good solid learner kit with round shells but it's a step down from Star and Pearl and their associated stencil brands and not just due to the lack of edges. However, the wrap looks amazing and, oddly, is really good quality and tough. Seriously, you'd be happy if the big names in vintage drums used wraps of this quality.
Bart - it's a saying from somewhere. I wouldn't actually swing a cat in there even if I could, although the dog would enjoy watching:)
