once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Ha! How am I going to top that?

Let's see, uh, yeah, I used it to add flavor to my food.

Did I get him good? :)

I had all the nuts and bolts off an old rogers that were completely covered in rust and corrosion. I saw on line to use apple cider vinegar. I tried it last night and was shocked. every ounce of rust was gone. it took 10 hours, but i could not believe it when i opened the container this morning. I just hope its safe.

any acid may cause pitting/flaking of the chrome.

Better would be over nite soak in original Dawn dish soap and water.

Any stubborn rust can be removed with a short soak in CLR and a toothbrush. Rinse in plain water and dry immediately

This method is tested and completely safe.

I tried this method in a old cheap kit and it really works.

For example, the floor tom legs were pretty rusted and were difficult to clean due too the texture where the tom bracket holds.

I put them inside a jar with vinegar for about 12 hours. Next day I took them and washed with water and soda to neutralize the PH. I used a toothbrush to clean the texture.

The legs become so clean and shinny I could not believe. I think the vinegar is not a problem if you wash it very well, dry it very well (important) and then put some lubrificant.

Phil,

Please post some before and after pics of the vinegar treatment. Like a lot of guys here, I soak rusty parts overnight in a strong Dawn solution. No idea why Dawn detergent works better than other brands, but it does. I've also used commercial rust removal products from Home Depot or Lowe's which work great, but the price of these products can't compare to the very economical cost of Dawn or vinegar. Let's see your vinegar results and keep posting the progress of this Rogers set. Thanks.

I use tin foil soaked in vinegar on that stubborn caked on rust...Instantly gone!!

Please keep in mind that there would probably be microscopic abrasions to the chrome using this method...

Cheers

I've used cider vinegar before simply because I was out of regular vinegar. Worked just as well, song smell though. Here's before during and after photos.
