Here's my Star snare drum with 3-point strainer. These pictures are directly from the posting on eBay where I purchased it. Got it for pretty cheap! It's a definite RK clone. Even the catalog calls the hoops "Stick Savers"! The drum is awaiting a complete detailing.
MIJ snare strainers
idrum4fun, that is awesome! How does it sound/play? Thanks for posting! If you can, please post some pics of the butt end.
Grantro, thanks for posting the pics of your early Bollero. That doesn't look like any Star drum that I've seen. I've only seen that type of strainer on one other drum, on ebay this last summer/fall, if my memory is correct. Can't remember the maker of that drum though...
Thanks to everyone that's posted so far! Please, let's keep the pics coming!
cn679! Thanks for the comments on the snare drum. Take a second look and you'll see that I did post a picture showing the butt on the Star snare drum!
Next, here are a few pictures of a cool ToRoDor snare drum that I had, which featured a very cool Clamshell style strainer and butt. Just a great little drum that I should have hung on to!!
I'll be looking through more pictures of drums I still have, or have owned, and post pictures of any other strainers not yet posted. Too much fun!
Whoops! Didn't realize there were already pictures of the clamshell strainer from! Well, can you ever have too much of a good thing?!!
Here's a close up of the Pearl "Bollero" early '70's
Cheers!

Hello I came across an eight lug MIJ snare drum today
it is wrapped in yellowed white marine pearl and has a really odd strainer mechanism
I was searching online for some info to help me I.D. this thing
And of course this older VDF thread popped right up
My snare is identical to this one originally posted by lewilson
save for mine being wrapped in white marine pearl
rather than in the red sparkle
I am curious as to what mfg. had actually made it and/or what badges they wore while they were being produced
mine has no badge and looks also like the original internal muffler
was replaced with a mis-fit
if anyone has a similar drum I would love to see the internal muffler system
Hello lewilson
if you still have yours and you are indeed still active on VDF
I would sure like a better look at yours
Thanks either way all Kenwood
Thought I would add one of mine that I do not see up here.
This is made by Pearl found on an early "Stagemaster" which was one of Mr. Cooper's models.

what can be done about the tombstone style strainer popping out of place?
Nice to see we're keeping this thread alive! Here's a picture of the strainer on my Musketeer Barth-Feinberg snare drum.

Just found these pictures of my early 70's Majestic snare drum, using the "Compound Lever" system that Tama would use on many of their drums in the mid and late 80's.
