MIJ snare strainers

From idrum4fun

Just found these pictures of my early 70's Majestic snare drum, using the "Compound Lever" system that Tama would use on many of their drums in the mid and late 80's.-Mark

Simply put - that snare is to die for!! Of all the Slinger knock-offs - this one is remarkable close. The strainer is not at all the same as the Zoomatic but what a cool strainer nonetheless....and I bet very functional! I always love using the flip down (like the Gladstone style) and this looks to be a great one! The fact that it is an original creates so much appeal - and with a name like Majestic! (one of my fav stencils)

I have/have had several of these old MIJ chrome snares but have never got my hands on one made by Star. THIS is exactly what I would be looking for and eventually I will snag one of those up. Other debts are priority right now but one like this has been on my radar.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Hail to the chief. Pearl President Not a great pic. I've been busy and thought it best to share. (Wrap is Gold Grain Pearl, BTW.)

Here is a little beauty I picked up a week ago. No badges but the strainer has adjustments on both sides. Any idea what brand this is?

Grantro, would you mind posting a pic of the badge on that Bollero snare? I'd like to see it. I didn't think Star ever used those mini Sound King lugs. I'm wondering if Bollero might be one of the names that was used by Pearl and Star.

From what I get the name Bollero (2 L's) was used on Pearl stencil kits whereas Bolero was Star-made. I've had 2 Bollero kits so far, one of the 2 had a 55 cm metric bass drum....weird stuff...

I have one snare that doesn't have a butt plate. It is a dual strainer system. The drum is named " Rocket " and It's MIJ. But what recently caught my attention is that the lugs are exactly the same as the lugs on my 60's Gretsch Round Badge. And even the strainers, and internal hardware don't match any of the other MIJ drums I have and have come across in my years. But the badge does say the drum was made in Japan for a company based in NY. I'll snap a few photos in the next few days. Has me curious though.
