Hi dukekamaya, I picked up the brass version a few days ago but doesn't have the original snare throw. What do you advise? Just has a cheapy on it at the moment.

I cleaned a 2000 for a friend about 6 weeks ago. The wires weren't sprung at all, and it cleaned up very well. The shell was aluminum and the drum was date stamped inside July 23, 1974.

After new heads and tuning, it surprised me how well it sounded and how responsive it was.

I've seen replacement snares on fleabay, hell, I've seen nice examples go for less than $200! Which to me is a steal for this drum.

I have an ali 2000 ALL ORIGINAL which I use sparingly, but where am I supposed to look for the date stamp inside the shell?...cant find it

Mine is just below where the Flobeam mechanism attaches to the shell.

Inside the shell, it was very faint on the 2000 I cleaned. Unlike the Slingy's and Luddy's, where they used a black ink stamp, I think Premier used something else. I kind of had to hold it at angles to see it.
