Projectors were birch, but as far as I know never had black painted interiors. Most o f the Projector brochures are online, none have black interiors

Yes, I did some research and the APKs had black interiors but by other hand they didn't had re-rings.

I'm confused with this...

Why Premier did paint the interiors? To hide the cheap wood? If this is cheap wood, why does it have re-rings?

Not so much that its a cheap wood, rather its not an aesthetically nice finishing wood. Tama for example covered it in Zola Coat before switching to inner and outer veneers of Basswood on Rockstars, they also used birch over it on the Artstar ES line. Yamaha used Fakalta and Birch to cover it on the Stage Customs. The XPK's had an outer ply of birch for lacquer finish.

The APK Royals had re-rings, could have been leftover shells.

That APK Royals were made of what type of wood?

Same -lauan/meranti.

The kit could even be a Royale APK - had a look quickly at google images for them, was a couple in the same finish

Thanks mikeellis. Is it normal that Royale APKs had re-rings? What type of wood is this and how much plies does it have?

I'm searching for a "bullet-proof" old kit that I can trust in sound (wood) and in hardware (hoops, lugs, etc). The vintage fetish makes me search for an old kit with good construction quality, like Premier.

Do You think I can get a good sound with new quality heads?

I saw your answer dukekamaya, thank you. I just wanted to confirm that and get some extra info if possible.
