Camco project revised

From DownTownFarmer

Here's my prediction - the wrap will come, it will match, and you will successfully invisible-ize these holes. They will disappear from....let's say...4 feet away. That's my prediction. :)Mitch

Lets hope your right!

Thank you!

On my clubdate set I used the free sample that precision would mail you (before the Internet when you ordered it out of the back of modern drummer.) to cut out circles with a hole-punch. I'd use the circles and wood glue to cover the holes.

I like Drums...
1963 Ludwig Downbeat Champagne Sparkle
1964 Leedy (Slingerland) Blue n Silver Duco
1964 Ludwig Club Date Sparkling Silver Pearl

I have a wrap sample from Precision, its not even close. But I have been wondering how to go about filling the holes. Four of the holes are 3/16" in diameter and were drilled super clean, clean as a factory hole. So I need to make a perfect 3/16" round patch for those. Two of the holes are rough and will need to have the edges cleaned up, so by the time I do that they will end up around 1/2" in diameter. So I need specific size patches and a way to stamp them out.

Nice~! Glad to see it's a good match. Makes things that much better for the final product. BTW I looked at those wrap samples you sent me long ago. But there was no silver. So I'm glad you were able to find some!

Jeff - The way I patch is; I glue a spot of wrap to the end of a dowel the same diameter as the hole I'm trying to fill. I use a small fine file to shape the piece of wrap perfectly to the top of the dowel. Add a little glue to the side, insert from behind and push the dowel until the wrap is flush with the surface on top. After it dries, I come and trim the back flush with the inside of the shell. Goes fast, looks great when done.
