Jeff just remember computer screen colors are adjustable and show color in in RGB (red-blue-green). So what color you might see as a dead nuts match might vary a little in real life.

Yes, although officially NTSC stands for "National Television System Committee", we all know it really means "Never Twice the Same Colour".

Lol.

Still playing with the colors.

I'm liking the samples with more brown, less red in them. But that's just me...:)

Still playing with the colors. Today I sprayed some orange dye on two pieces of birch plywood. Then stained one with walnut stain and the other with rich cherry. Then mixed up some lacquer with a walnut shading additive. I did three different shades of the walnut. Lastly I sprayed a coat of clear over everything except the orange dye that I had masked off, I did that so I can see how the orange dye should look when I go to do the drums. The sample with the rich cherry stain matches the Gretsch floor tom picture pretty good. The Gretsch drum's finish is called walnut gloss lacquer, it looks pretty red to me. I took a picture of my sample next to the computer monitor with the Gretsch floor tom, thats a first for me, never tried to match to a picture before.

Jeff I don`t know if this will help or not, here is a closer pic of the color of the fade on my kit.

Yes!!! I remember our first color TV as a kid. Had to adjust color-hue-contrast on every channel. Drove my Dad nuts. So I was the official knob tuner. He'd sit back in his chair with a Scotch and tell me what to do. LOL.Was also Scotch fetcher boy too. Mom would tip a bit extra knowing I'd be sippin off the top before it got to him.

Sorry getting OT here.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Tommy, thanks for the photo! I think I have the formula that I want to follow now. Just need time to do it and that will be tough, I just sold a bunch more cabinets.

Glenn, that is a great story about your dad and the tv! Just think how much technology has changed since we were kids, its crazy. We just took 4 big tv's, 3 monitors, 3 printers and a fax machine to a recycling place today.

Thank you!

I'll bet Jeff doesn't mind the odd interesting tangent. I enjoyed yours...[hic!]

Will you still veneer others sets for money?

Always had an inclination toward a thermo gloss keystone Hollywood like Ringo's rooftop kit. I've got a collection of orphans that I would love to have veneered rather than wrapped.

I like Drums...

That's right! Keep him working on drums! The guy does beautiful work and he's always talking about; 'This is my last kit.' The orphan kit that Jeff added another Mahogany veneer to for me is one of the best sounding and looking kits that I own. It would be a crying shame if he stopped doing his woodworking magic on old shells that would otherwise be headed for the trash heap. I love natural wood finishes and nobody does them like Jeff.

Look at this guys work:

Put his as$ back to work on drums say I. :p

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Ha, you guys are funny. I might consider doing one for money, you just have to ask. I have been so swamped with cabinets in the last 18 months that there is no room or time to do drums. I have 15 drum sets, ever heard of the crazy cat lady, well I feel like the crazy drum guy. The reason I want to add an 18" floor tom( placed add in the wanted forum) to this kit is because I think that I will like this one more than my zebra kit. So I might want to keep this one and sell the Zebra's instead.

I really like the 1 up 2 down configuration. I have not been using my 14" tom in the Zebra kit. So I am thinking now of plugging the mount holes in the bass drum and toms on this kit so I will have a virgin bass drum, love that look!

Clubdate64, dont give up when I say last kit I am referring to my kits. So you or the other guys who have asked me to veneer drums, hang in there, but first I need to get this one off my shelf.

Thanks for the kind words John!

Thank you!

Well it's good to know you've got work.

My guitarist is a union carpenter and is constantly out of work.

And you can't stop working on drums it's only natural, Jasper was a furniture and cabinet maker that started making drum shells!

You could make drums!

We'll call them jc cabinet drum company. J.c.c.d.c.
