John!OKAY!!!... now it's time for me to chime in! Your restoration thread on this W&A set has just been chosen as "Thread of the year" on the VDF. Over 400 replies, 42 pages, 10,000 views, and counting. Congratulations John "Purdie Shuffle" Velez! NO THREAD prior, or most probably after, has or will even come close to the interest, dialog, amount of views, or anticipation for the BIG REVEAL, and... we can't leave out the quality of your work itself. A fabulous undertaking, and an even more fabulous result. Congrats from the VDF!!! We will put this in a SPECIAL SPOT for all to see for years to come. Fabulous job!Tommyp

TommyP - That's GREAT! I mentioned more than once that this restoration thread has a perfect home at VDF. The heart and soul of VDF is the vintage drum restoration section and I'm proud and honored to have my kit/thread chosen to be showcased especially in this section of the website. The recognition from my peers means a lot to me.

Thanks, Tommy & Dave and everybody who participated and made this thread informative and for me, tons of fun to do.

I'm investing a little $ in some photo-lights and a backdrop. I want the photos to be as good as I can make them. It's a special kit and this has been a special project for me, throwing a few more bucks at it is well worth it.

THANK YOU ALL! Kiss

John (Proud as punch! :D)

Too many great drums to list here!

Yea,sure, now you did it TommyP! Now I'll likely have to call Bev to set up an appointment just to stop in to see my bud. "I knew him when he....." is how the stories will begin from here on out!

John, you know I'm BS ing you. Kiss. You deserve and have earned all of the accolades you've received regarding this kit/thread. Enjoy!

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Thanks for the very kind words. I'm looking forward to doing the photo shoot of the kit myself! I'm pretty good with a camera and I'm a Photoshop pro, I think I can do a credible job. We'll see. Jeremy wants to use photos for his upcoming W&A book, I'd like the bragging rights for the photos used in the book. If mine aren't up to snuff, Jeremy can arrange for a professional photo if he chooses to. I take an awful lot of drum pictures year after year, it's about time I invested in some decent lighting and a nice professional backdrop. It'll get a lot of usage over here, I'll put some serious mileage on it in no time!

The head for the 11" is due tomorrow, photos of the finished drum to follow. Then... photos of the kit! I've ordered the lights and backdrop I'll need for the shoot. As soon as it arrives... photo-time!

Congratulations John. Very well deserved indeed.

If the felt doesn't work, a simple solution for padding would be to use adhesive loop Velcro. We use it for that purpose all the time.
