Vintage W&A Kit Restoration

Loading...

Hey Mick, thank you very much for checking out Dale's for me. Greatly appreciated. Now I'm stuck though. Does anybody have old parade drum claw hardware, or the claw end of a single tension rod (like the one in the photo I posted previously)?

I'm going to start installing the tacked head tomorrow. More shortly. In the meantime, I need that claw. Help!

John

John,

What an awesome job you are doing with this restoration. It definitely ended up in the right hands and it looks like you are enjoying the project. Thanks for all of the detailed info and great photos of your progress. I will look through my claws and let you know if I have anything to contribute.

Awesome thread everyone. So many people chiming in for the good. Why can't the rest of the world work this well! And the arrival of Gus and Jeremy seals the deal. Great work John! I'm sure all of the skills you learned in your diverse life are adding to this magnificent project and we are all reaping the benefits. Thank you!! I have some marching snare claws I wonder if one might serve you?

randy - thanks bud, if you find one in your stash let me know!

Multijd - Thank you for your kind words and generous offer, but the claw in the photo is not the one I need. The central shaft hole on the W&A claw is wider than on most claws. One will turn up! I have to write to Bill (billnvick) because he has a ton of old claws and hardware.

Rain delay!

I've been flat on my as$ for two days with a bad gout attack. Anybody who's had it knows what that bone pain feels like and I don't have to say anymore about it. I'm much improved today, but still not 100%. I'll get back to work and pick up the thread

asap. I'm itching to get the kit finished.

In the meantime, if anybody comes up with that claw I need, pm me.

Back soon...

John

Get well soon John! I think you mentioned you don't even drink so it's a drag you have to suffer from gout. A big drag...!

You don't know the half of it brother! I not only don't drink, I don't eat hardly any meat in my diet, so the big dietary excuses for it do not apply. I'm on blood pressure medications that cause the uric acid build ups in my system and every once-in-awhile I get waylaid by one of these painful bone attacks. I'm on the improve.

Scott, all, thanks for the thoughts and I want to wish all my brothers here at VDF a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous new year!

John,

Sorry to hear about the gout problems, I've heard it could be quite painful. Hope you're feeling better soon and back to the awesome resto. Happy New Year!
