Brand New Drums

Loading...

My 1st drum kit was a slingerland jazz kit. I learned to play from my brother's drummers. The all had hollywood kits, i enveyed that other tom. lol

I have bought several used kits and had my favorite one give to me. My sonors. This week I bought my 1st brand new drum kit, ludwig cs accent nomad kit 18" bass, with hardware. I had already bought a cs accent snare and a few toms and thought they were fine. I got this kit in and 1st thing I noticed was they had no badges on them, They have stickers instead of badges. If that aint bad enough, the stickers had tiny dimples underneath like a few grains of sand got under the decal. It looked like sh*t! I am so disappointed. The hard ware would be perfect for my kids drum project, but I already have that covered.

I shoulda got the grestch, without hardware for a little bit more. I was wanting a jazz kit.

I got my kid a set of Accents to start with then I ordered a set of Gretsch Catalina Maples. I got them for $420 (Musicians Friend) bucks with the extra floor tom included. I put new heads on the day I got them and I'll tell you what, they sound awesome for $400. This is the Catalina Maples in use. The snare in the video is a Krupa COB that we picked up off of Ebay for $135 a few weeks ago. The stock snare sounds nice too.

Hey Poppy,

Thanks, he just turned 12 in April. I don't think he had ever played that song before, just played it off of feel. None of those guys is me, I'm pretty much Ben's roadie and drum tech..LOL. I'm sitting at a table with my wife ejoying a cold one in the top right of the screen, my little one can be seen but I'm just out of view. The older guitar player is Anson Funderburgh ( http://www.ansonandtherockets.com/index2.htm ) and is a legend and great guy. All of the guys up there are full time musicians except for Ben. Ben is really getting into Jazz also.

Cya,

Mike

Tama Stagestars are also a much better 18" rig than the Ludwigs.

Birch interiors...just sand 'em down to 220 grade inside, and hit with Tung Oil, and they sound pretty darn good for a $400 set (comes with decent hardware, too).

BTW, GD...did you make your kid a fake ID for that gig ?Eye Ball
