That's odd, sorry that happened..what a drag.

I think the DAP I have used must have been the flammable kind. I dunno about any bleed from it on the wrap, though...I have never had that issue with any wraps...

Dap was a drag for me too...I've got to go back and re-repair the repair job I thought I had done on my Slingys. It did the same thing yours did, Poppy, now I have a bunch of extra glue at the overlap on my bass drum to remove before I try again. The Dap held for me for a couple of days, and then let loose. I'll try the Xylene for removal, unless it just peels off like yours did, Poppy. I feel your pain man.

There's another pedal like ours on ebay as we speak. here's my hat and snare stands. These actually came with the drums. Very early 60's

check it out!

Sorry about your glue and wrap trouble. How's it going now??Going back a little to the pedal part of your thread. It's a cool pedal! I picked up the same Sonor pedal about three weeks ago from a drum buddy. He didn't want to sell it because it was so "Jetsons". Looks like a pedal Rosie the robot would have played. He said before selling that he couldn't stop looking at it. Bye the way, that's the matching hi-hat you see there~Walking

The xylene didnt work to well on the dap nonflamable sh*t. Dap recommended mineral spirits. I tried both. I rubbed it with the mineral spirits and it sorta balled up on me. Without any solvent I started rubbing the glue off of the wrap. Then I discovered i could just peel large sections off. Then I decided to use the tape method and just clean the shell where the tape was going to be, i discovered that the glue peels off the shell also. but, every time i peeled it across a lug hole it would tear. I had to rub it off around the holes then peel some more. It took a good hour or so to get all the dap off. A bass drum would almost make me want to go to the jumpin' off place!

Good luck!

Maybe I'll staple the dang thing on!

Hey, rivets worked for Ludwig in the mid 80's. I'm just sayin'...might work for you too.

I remember when I started playing. I was twelve years old and learned to play snare on a old Ludwig chrome marching snare in a Drum Corps and bugle corps. Can't wait to see the finished product.

The best drums made!!! Period.

I got my killer hi bond tape today. I sorta got side tracked while waiting for the tape. I am in the middle of putting together some kids drums i have been planning for a while. It is comming together rather nicely too. I got my wood bass drum rims for my 16" bass drum today. I have more than one project going, but i will finish both very soon

I have yet to find the red tape on Precision's website .... I found and ordered a quart of the 3M adhesive there, but can't find the tape....

Can someone please zero in on the tape and link the page in a reply for me?.... they have it at Drummaker.com .... is this the same stuff, and how does their price( $36.40 ) compare to Precisions' ??

Thanks everyone....

Precision does not have the tape. He is a glue your wrap on guy. He dont believe in the tape. he claims that the glue makes the wrap part of the drum and resonates better. he says the wrap might wrinkle later if not glued. Drummaker says his tape is excatly the same as jammin sam's tape. I got my roll yesterday and drummaker peeled the manufacture's name of of the cardboard roller on the inside of the roll of tape. jammin sam only sells his tape with his wrap. The way I figure, 100' should do about 10 5 piece drum kits. So each kit cost about $3.60 wort of tape. Sam charges much more that that for his tape. heres his prices. about $54.00 for a 5 piece kit. that would be $540 for 10 kits. I think 36 is a good price.

Jammin sam's tape prices:

Snares & Small Toms (3" – 12" deep) $4.00 each

Deeper Toms (13" – 16" deep) $5.00 each

18" Floor Toms (no deeper than 16") $7.00 each

Basses 10" – 16" deep

(18" – 32" head size) $7.00 each

Basses 18" – 20" deep

(18" – 32" head size) $8.00 – $10.00 each

Basses 20" – 24" deep

(18" – 32" head size) $8.00 – $10.00 each

Note: Our hi-bond tape can only be purchased with our drum wrap.

These prices are for one piece of the tape. It takes 2 pieces to wrap a drum. Sam charged me $14 for the tape on my floor tom wrap. So the $36 is sounding cheaper all the time.
