Hey folks. I'm a newb to vintage drums, so I hope you guys can help. My nephew has a set of ludwigs that I am looking to buy(actually trade) from him. They are date stamped 03-24-1967. They have keystone badges and the sizes and serials are as follows:
20" kick - 467887
16" floor tom - 467888
14" tom - 466249
12" tom - 466513
I am looking to find out what these drums are. I've done some research, but I am finding so much info on different types of kits....super classics....downbeats....etc that I am unsure where to go. I am mainly looking to find out the series and the type of wood, and an approximate value if anyone could help there as well. Hopefully the attached pics are sufficient. There are a few condition problems. Firstly, the bottom hoops are missing for all the toms. Are these hard to find??? Also, as a result, there is some damage to the bearing edges on the resonant sides of the rack toms in a couple of places. The floor tom looks fine, but that seems like a pretty big issue. Also, my uncle repainted the inside of the drums. I have no idea what type of paint he used, but he was careful not to paint over the date stamp. Not sure if that would affect the tone or not. Basically, I'm just looking for a decent kit....it doesn't have to be the best....but any info that you folks can help me out with would be great!!
Thanks,
Jacob
