Yeah, good solution, I mean you cant get a more stable connector than another 14 shell....just glad you saved some of it for a drum ;)

I bought some real cool lugs from ebay last week for the shell. I have no idea how to space the holes for the lugs and how to cut a snare bed or how to cut a bearing edge eiither. lol I saw on one of the drum suppliers a template for making a drum but it was to high I think. If I had a piece of old wrap of off a snare drum I could use it as a pattern. I guess Ill figure it out one way or another.

I think I found a new solution for stacking snares for display. The keller shell slices work perfectly, but I think that embroidery hoops would do the trick. I saw some on ebay 8 14" hoops for $10.99. I bet that would work!

I use pieces of thin particle board I find on the side of the road - like the stuff that you find tacked on backing the bookshelf. BUT, after seeing this thread I realize that my thin boards are still putting stress on the rims, which in turn is putting weight on the heads - in the form of stretching I suppose.

These would work great, if you happen to have a bunch of shells laying around. Wait, I think I just might have some of those!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
