What about a display rack, roughly 4 tiers of 5 snares each? You could even put a glass door on it so you could see them, yet keep them dust-free. Not to discount your idea, but I still getting uneasy about snares being stacked more than 3 high at a time.

Right now, half of mine are in cases and the other half are on a shelf (minus the 2 set up on my kits at the moment). I would like to build a display, like the one I've described, but there's no room for one. Maybe someday I'll get rid of that half stack...

I finished cutting my drum shell rings and staining them this am. It worked out very nice. I have a 5.5 inch piece left. I will build me a snare drum out of it at some point.

Well I got my snare stackers all finished. I ended up with 16 of them and a 5 1/2 shell left. They work excatly like I wanted them to. The maple shell stayed intact aand every piece is pretty strong. I stained them. These little shell spacers rest right on top of the snare shell, therefore they dont put any stress on the drum head. I cover my snares up with a sheel when ever i and sanding or any thing messy. I am planning on making a clear plastic vinyl cover for them. I will show pic of that when I get that done. I know there are lots of people in here that have several snare drums and want to display them. I like mine displayed so I can see them all the time.

Take a lQQk!

Man I read this post the other day and have since thought this slice and dice to display snares just a great idea. My meager collection of three additional snares live in the closet, I'd love to have themn out where I can see them. I saw your other post on the corner shelf, seems a perfect marriage of two great ideas, let us know how the shellf works out?! Thanks

The shell slices are working perfectly already. The deminsions of that slef I orderd is going to be perfect according to my calculations. I have found snares at pawn shops and bought a few off of ebay. Its a fun thing to me. Since I aint married, i can buy drums with my money, but I do have a live in girl friend, shes the one that suggested I set up a drum kit in the living room. i got my 2 kits out of the closet and have been a drum junkie ever since lol

Your girlfriend is a keeper! My wife likes having my set in the area formerly known as the dining room! The stackers look and seem to work great! There's a rich history to "stacked" drums, it's how most shops displayed them in the 60's, it was DAZZLING to see in a well stocked shop.

I know its sorta sacreligious to butcher up a shell like that, but I got the idea from a snare I was working on. I had removed the heads and stacked it in between a couple of snares and it stacked real nice. I was looking for a cheap 14" shell on ebay and came accross the keller. it was pretty cheap, considering it was 14X24, not to mention brand new. No holes or reinforcement rings to deal with and I get to make me a snare at some point.

I called the pipe store, thinkin' I could just get PVC pipe and have them cut it for me, but that didnt pann out at all. sooooo i have genuine keller snare drum stackers.
