I bought the shells and most of the hardware off a CL add in Tulsa, Ok. Rewrapped the 6-ply shells in "Super Tangerine Glass Glitter" and installed either new or gently used Evans heads. The spurs are new Ludwig, and the FT legs are generic.
I also have a matching 7x14 SD, but still waiting on new rims. Will post pics when finished.

Thanks! As for keeping them, well, I've already listed them in the "For Sale" section. Believe me, I'd like to keep 'em... but either these will go, or my 78 Pearls. I'm thinking about putting them up for sale as well (and whichever sells first, I keep the other!)

Bill, how was that glass glitter wrap to work with? Did you have to trim it at all or was it ordered the correct size and you just glued to the shell? Was it brittle and seem like it would crack in two? Just wondering because others have mentioned that this wrap is difficult to work with.
The glass glitter was very hard to work with. It's my second set I've done in it -- the other a custom FG job (70s Pearl shells w/Ludwig hardware) that went to Nashville. The buyer of that set ordered in the wrap for both sets in full sheets, so I had to cut it (very slowly and carefully with a large sharp pair of scissors).
It is thicker, and it is kinda brittle, and had to be careful with the edges when handling (it was easy to get small cuts!). But, other than those "inconveniences," it was OK. I wouldn't hesitate to work with it again.
My next two wrap jobs are in traditional white pearl, and yes that's MUCH easier to work with!
And, to the horror of many on this forum, both of these were "tape at the seam" jobs, so no glue.
Great job! What tape did you use? The lower strength tape to align and high strength tape to bond seems to yield good results.
Nothin wrong with the tape, I used it on my Slingys and have no issues.

This is what I use:
I know it seems pricy, but 100 ft. lasts a LONG time. I use this for both aligning and to bond the seam. On the glass glitter, I've found that placing two strips (side-by-side) on the bonding seam helps with the thickness of the wrap (I hope that made sense).
Not a bad price seeing as Sam charges I think $10 a drum for the tape.
