You're trying to use 6-ply lug screws on those three ply shells aren't you? Man.....been there before....DOH

That's right. Rub it in. Man........sometimes I don't enjoy my limitations. I welcome you to my solus existence. I sincerely could not believe how brain-dead dumb that move was. I knew better. Now, to top it. I "forgot" to pick up an extra tom mount. I've got one for a cymbal holder, but no tom mount. Obviously, I used that one for the tom. Now I've got to shop for a bass/cymbal holder. I've got to get another for the 12 inch tom. In case you're counting...that's two. Dang! It never stops.

Oooooooooh.....gold sparkle! SWEEEEEET! Don't see gold very often......those should look great under the stage lights! I hope you reconsider the badgeless state though..........they would be proud to wear Ludwig badges.

We can pretend they hit the perfect time during 1969/1970 when Ludwig ran out of the keystone badge and the substantial supply of B/O badges hadn't come in yet. They actually shipped some drums with only grommets. That works for me. They look so clean without that B/O on it. If it were the keystone, I might reconsider. Maybe I'll shop around for some keystones. Not a bad call, Luddyman. Not a bad call at all. Don't get a big head, but you are two for two with me. You've hit the nail on the head twice in two days. Smartypants.

I didn't realize they were B/O badges originally.....yeah, I'd leave them off then....LOL! I own a set of them but I'm not a fan of that big honkin' badge. The keystone was much more subtle and classy.....:)

Hey Michael,

You know those shells are stamped APR 1971, right? I just noticed your signature and thought I would mention it.

Hello Michael,

Drums look beautiful - the gold sparkle looks incredible.

I was wondering if you could tell me what sort of polish you used on the hardware, it looks really good. I've got a ton of it to polish myself.

Thanks

Don't laugh....Turtle Wax. Seriously. I scrubbed the lugs and such and then use the spray bottle of Turtle Wax to give it a protective sheen. They come out pretty nice. It works for any chrome piece; stands and all.

Very nice job, dude !

In my own very humble opinion, I'd hunt down a pair of black-painted bass drum hoops with recesses to accept strips of matching wrap -- when I see maple hoops, it just shouts "modern" to me... A dumb little detail, I know, but, well, I just dig the old style black hoops with inlays.

I noticed you have a wing nut on the P-1672 bracket on your tom. Wing nuts are okay for folding spurs, floor tom legs, and cymbal L arms, but I'd suggest you use a hex nut on your tom bracket.

From long-time experience with Ludwigs, I've learned that mounted toms really need the torque from a hex rail key instead of just thumb-tightened wing nuts. Well worth the effort of finding the right hex nuts and a rail key.

A set of gold sparkle Ludwigs is one of the sweetest-looking drum sets on stage ! Champagne is nice, Red sparkle's nice - but that nice. clean gold wrap job you've done is simply majestic !

Working on it. I'm using these until. They look 'ok' for now. They actually look nice due to the antiqued tone next to the gold. But, I seriously am looking.

That's because that IS a bass/cymbal mount. I FORGOT to locate and purchase a couple of tom mounts. DANG DANG DANG!!!
