Nice Ludwig Shells given a new lease on life

The hex nuts. I always replace those with wing nuts. I know, I know, that's bad...but....convenient.

I did have the "Screw Incident", spoken about in another thread, so the hardware installation has to wait...and we shall never speak of that again."

Sorry to bring this up...but there is not a place to buy the exact screw/washer as ludwig used for 3ply? The P-22492 ludwig offers I guess is for the Classic 6ply. What about P-22491..they say Super Classic. Is that 4ply..wonder if that is the correct one??

Loving my Summer break. Spending lots of time restoring drums. Working on two kits simultaneously. Love Love Love this stuff.

Floor tom is complete. Finally got the correct washer and screw combination. I hate technology. "Simple machine", my backside!

Anyway, it turned out very nice. The tom and floor tom both sound very nice. Fit and finish are spot on. Still working on the bass.

Should have the bass done in two or three days. Having fun!

WOW. Those look great. I love gold sparkle! I've never found a ludwig set in that finish in my area.

Hey Harry.

I don't know what to say about those screws. I hunted down washers left and right until I found one that sits well with me. I like 'em. They even match the existing washers...just a bit wider. Looks nice.

I'm going to have to go with the hex nuts. I tried it with a wing and could spin the drum slightly. I don't like chasing my toms so I will need to put something there that's solid. I've got one of those large wings with "Ludwig" written on it. I might try that for gigs and use a hex or small wing while it sits in my music room.

I got to at least set it up. Whooooo-Hoooooooo!!!

Well....getting there. I took some pics of the kit.......so far.

This is now my main gigging kit. Not necessary for it to be museum perfect. This has become a very nice players kit.

Still need to router the hoops to put the gold inlay in. Still looking for some bolts and silly stuff like that. Close. So close.

Waiting for some prices on a few of them and waiting for some to arrive. Another hour or so of work and the kit will be complete.

The blue sparkle snare is a 61 Super Classic. It's the snare I will play with this kit. It's about 90% complete. Still working on the hoops and picking out heads and a snare. If any of you have suggestions on head choice and snare choice, I would appreciate you chiming in.

This kit has taken quite a bit of time, but it is worth it.
