Well despite being local to me, I was resolutely not going to buy this kit. So imagine my surprise when I ended up buying it. That surprise was minor compared to the surprise I got when I saw them in person. Years of being stored out at a popular surf beach has taken its toll on the chrome and it looked like it had lived in a dirty shed for years. I was annoyed with myself.
Anyway, I'll treat it as a rescue project as no money is going be made from selling them I'm pretty sure.
I've just started on the 13" tom and apart from the hoops the drum is sound and in pretty good shape. The lugs are not perfect but considering the neglect they will come up pretty good. Most of the heads are original on the kit so the insides of the shells have been well preserved. The exterior finish must be tough because there's not a mark on the 13".
I believe this is a Soundwave kit from the early 80s. 3 ply Birch shells with Beech re-rings, so a classic Premier formula. It came with the original Trilok hihat and snare stand but you have to look hard to find any chrome plating left on them:)
I'll keep you updated on progress
