They seem to come in unusual wraps. Local shop had a nice one in wine ripple a bit ago. Picture this on a Leedy....

Thanks you Guys for all the great advice. Great pictures too. Never thought vintage drums were this much fun before. I'll leave the bearing edges alone and keep the RK snare rim for now... I think it's really cool. Got the aftermarket Strainer ordered on ebay. I'm figuring that by the time I buy generic rims I may be halfway toward getting vintage COB's. Anyway the kit is cleaning up nicely and I can't wait to get it put together and hear it.. which brings me to another question. Are these old kits up to being really played on or should they be seen and sometimes heard? I'm not a drummer but this kit could surely get some use in my home studio. The wrap seems pretty strong and I'm only cleaning up with a damp cloth and water. Right now I have a Pacific MX kit in the drum booth and I'm thinking the Leedy's may be a nice complimentary tone.

They were meant to be played! I might pick a more modern set to tour with. They'll be right at home in the studio...

Excellent kit!

T rods look like MIJ ones on the snare....

Can you take one out of the floor Tom,and shoot a pic of that?

Thanks...

Here's a video of my similar vintage Slingerlands (the same drums with different lugs} playing modern stuff in the studio. They'll sound great!

That is a great video Crash. Your performance and tone are really powerful. I'm glad to hear these vintage babies can wail. I have a picture of the lugs for you, blairndrums.

My tone, not me playing. I sold them to a studio in L.A. They did the video a week after picking them up. They recorded them "as is". Hadn't even moved the Gaffer's tape from my last gig with' em. You sounded unsure of whether they'd record well. I figured you should hear what these shells can sound like recorded, playing "modern" music. Your Leedy's are the same shells, just different lugs.

Here's my my duco Slingerleedy. Being played hard.

Btw It's stamped 62 on the tom and 64 on the bass and floortom so I imagine shells could be sitting around for a few years before being put together into a set.

It was a yard sale set, came without bottom hoops. It was spendy but I held out for cob sticksavers.

Beautiful kit! Thanks for saving it!

Great looking set. Duco's such a vintage look.
