I would play the kit the way it is while I keep looking for a floor tom with the proper wrap and then replace the drum.

I'm actually replacing lugs, leg brackets, etc. on the floor tom. The wrap that was on there was actually painted over, so it wasn't really playable as-is.

I've also found that singleton Standard drums aren't all that plentiful (although I am looking).

I was going to do something similar with one of my Sonor kits. I got a few places to provide me quotes for super photo quality thick vinyl from photos I provided of a finish. I was going to use that as a wrap. Not perfect but would get you very close.

Got any names and numbers, or was this on the other side of the pond?

Yup I will post the contacts tomorrow. I think some do custom drum wraps from what I remember. Another was a place that made signs and vinyl car wraps.

How costly did it turn out to be compared to straight up drum wrap?

Most places that do high quality vinyl wraps for cars and so forth can do the same.

Have you tried removing the paint? It can be done.... there's a thread or 2 about it around here..

Which paint? The paint on the floor tom's wrap? I simply removed the wrap and now have a bare shell.
