Looking at your pic I don't see any pitting. If there's like NONE then it's almost certainly not aluminum. Possible, but as likely as an unpitted Ludalloy Supra.
Your drum is stock and correct. Square-head rods, tri-flange hoops, that handsome strainer that too easily disengages (ah, reminds me of meself as a lad...). Great drum.
Here's mine (now sold). I painted the burgundy harlequins with Fusion paint. Tough finish, excellent bond to plastic wrap. Stock tom mount was a major tone-robber.
So, I guess it is safe to say that my snare came out in 1975 but is really a Beverley 21 since the shell, lug casings, and throwoff are all Beverley. It has the square-top bolts like the mid-seventies instead of the slotted top from earlier.

Ok, if your drum got that dirty and isn't pitted, it's almost certainly not aluminum. If the shell chrome is smooth and a magnet doesn't stick, brass. Pits is aluminum, magnet sticks is steel.

OK, I'll do a cleanErUp test tonite and see if it is pitted or dirty!
So, the pitting is because of the underlying aluminum reacting with the chrome overlay? And I suppose the brass didn't have this issue?

Mine had a 1973 date stamp, but it came in a 1975 set. So yeah, you're getting the picture. The snares sat, probably fully built. They likely got the wee badges when cleared out in 6000/6500 sets '75-'78.
Yes, that's it. Plated aluminum works for awhile, but it's a chemically bad marriage. I couldn't begin to pretend to know the science of it, but the end of the plated aluminum story is always the same. Pits.
that badge sure does look early to me. My 35 has the Beverley lugs, TF hoops and squared head rods but a different strainer and badge, and 10 lugs. I understood that the 35 came later than the Beverley 21 and happened because the Beverley did so well. So it looks to me like an interesting collection of parts, possibly factory. The strainer on yours was the same as used on the Hi Fi and the 21.
BTW, I really dig my 35 - every bit the equal of a Supra IMO.
Andrew, is that aluminum too? If so I guess they weren't phasing out the cosmic shell after all (in mid 70s as I supposed above).
I had my set almost 3 years and kept a keen eye out for others like it during that period. Having seen several I can confirm that is the factory snare for a 6000/65000 Powerhouse etc outfit.
There were no conclusive catalogue shots that I ever found. My conclusion came from seeing several 6000/6500 sets on ebay etc, all with this exact snare. As I recall, the catalogue shots don't show the snare very clearly. But yeah, not a drip of speculation here, that's what it is.
