As promised, here are the pictures I took of Mitch's kit at the EMP in Seattle. Please forgive the POOR quality! I usually take pretty good pictures. Not sure what happened!Mark

I wonder where he used this set? In all the pics I have seen of Mitch he is playing a Ludwig set that looks new from when the pic was taken. The set on display is a WFL set probably from the late 50's. Not saying that it was'nt used with Hendrix, I am just suprised to see a WFL set. Does anyone have any pics of Mitch playing a WFL set?

BTW as cool as silver sparkle is(and it's cool) I loved the maple set that Mitch used. I had never even dreamed that a maple canister throne existed until I saw this pic... This is freakin awesome!

I read somewhere that there was a coin toss to choose betweem Mitchell and Aynsley Dunbar to be in Hendrix' band.

Dunbar was awesome in pre-Steve Perry Journey. Look on youTube for stuff like "Kahoutek" and "Of A Lifetime"

as a matter of fact, here you go...

There was a black Ludwig kit in the Hendrix exhibit at the Seattle Music Experience when we went there.

That looks like Mitch's Woodstock black panther set that was actually a double bass set. I have just never seen any pics of Mitch on a WFL set which is what that pic earlier was. I wonder if the rest of the panther set still exists?

A guy who was at the Hendrix gig at the LA Forum told me he saw a fan jump onstage after the show and walk off with Mitchell's 12' black panther tom! Photos of them after that gig only show one tom on Mitch's set.

Mitch gave his maple set, or one of them, to Robert Wyatt from Soft Machine.
