mike curotto gave me some advice once. if you have a plater nearby, have them remove the chrome if you have the chrome ones. the nickel is right under the chrome from what I understand. I do not know what this costs however.

Interesting. Not sure I would pay a plater to remove the chrome but using older and worn rods from my collection might look less jarring than the bright, shiny chrome against the duller NOB hoops and lugs.
