What a rare find! Don't know the price you paid, but considering the unique finish, I don't think that ...Concering the missing parts: I've seen another mate looking for such lugs - I think it will be rather difficult to find them. He states he searches them for two years now ...Maybe ST Drums (here in Germany) has some spare lugs from Sonor which should look very similar (as Star copied this style at that time). Edit 13/10/04: CORRECTION - see two posts below: Sonor parts shall NOT fit! (Thanks to FloydZKing.)BD spur: pay attention to the diameter - and you can use any bar that fits into the bracket. We need a pic of the cymbal mount. I hope it's not the one I assume ('cause that one will be almost impossible to find) ...Conc. shipment to USA from DK: Maybe it's possible for Jon to consider a shipment with a letter mail (registered mail) and NOT as a parcel? As an example: At the moment I can offer two 16" drumheads from Germany to USA for EUR 10, using this way of shipment. There's a limit in the height of the letter, but those lugs shouldn't cause problems with this. Just an idea.Oh - and thanks for your compliments to my website - appreciated!Ralf
Thanks for chiming in Ralf.
I am having my shop make me a new spur out of stainless. If it looks good enough I may not have it chromed. We'll see ... chroming is expensive.
Regarding the price... I paid $194.00 (including the shipping cost). Probably a bit much but considering its overall condition I'm pretty pleased. As this is going to be a kit to keep and play I'm not worried about putting a bit more into it to get it the way I like and the way I feel "it should be". Labor of love stuff here. :)
Regarding the lugs - I will do my level best to get authentic Star lugs. So far, I've procured 3 of them thanks to the fine folk here on this forum.
One question that comes up is the tom mount rail. It feels a little loose where the tubing connects to each end of the mount. Is there any way to tighten these up? Haven't pulled it off the bass drum yet to investigate.
For information, I'm attaching a pic of the incomplete cymbal mount.
Again, thanks ...
