Record weight 24 zildjian

Im talking about a 24 on Classic vintage drum site. There are 2 24 a's up as of yesterday. 1 is 2619 grams I think, the other is under 3000 but a bit heavier than the 2619. They both sound good.

I would agree with both of you and would probably do the same unless I could hear both first and make my judgment based solely which one sounded best. But I understand that we don't always have that luxury.Which cymbal was it that you are referring to? Because that can't be the same one that I used as my example. The 1437 gram paper-thin hasn't been presented here or anywhere else as of yet.

Im sure that 1437 20 trans sounds awesome likewise. If i had to same size cymbals 1 trans stamp thats heavier than a light 60s a, Id have to go with the trans. I love trans stamp, only had 3 but I still got all 3. id like to find a 22 trans stamp one day

O.K., I see how the confusion happened....we're both named Bill.

I might put mine up here for later discussion.

Well my guess was off. The 24 weighs in 6.75 lbs, making it 3062 grams by my conversion. Didnt make the under 3000 mark. Another question, my 20 zildjian k from the 50s weighs in at 2267 grams. Would this be considered medium weight? My 60s 18 k weighs 1501 grams. Would this be considered thin? Thanks

Your 20" A and your 18" K are both mediums. Be aware that weight designations can vary both by the era as well as differing by manufacturer; so labeling them with a weight designation can involve more than just using an online weight designation calculator.

At one point I was down with this sentiment; but now, it's med-thin and med for me -- med-thin being Platonic perfection, and medium b/c functionally speaking, sometimes you just need some meat!

Yep. I like my cymbals the same way that I like my women. With just a little more meat on the bone, but not too much.
