Technical Difficulties
mcjnic, you have a Private Message too!
Here we go again. Look...these things are worth some serious bucks. You have given us bupkis to work with. Please get some more info out there so we can help you determine the value...before someone takes you to the cleaners and gives you squat for those very valuable instruments. We are talking hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars here. Please WAIT before selling. Get some good advice and THEN consider selling. Please. We are a good group of mostly ethical people. Don't tempt us with a gift from the 'drummer up there'. We might snap and take advantage of you.Talk this thing through...for all of our sakes.
McJ...I think he has the opportunity to buy them, not sell them...
But that doesn't change the point of your message, really.
I agree with that. Especially for your sake, Av.... and the sake of the old gent.
You have come here to get true info, so we can provide you with that.
Just in the meantime...DON'T do anything rash or hasty regarding these cymbals ! So, get more pics, then folks here can give you a true market value.
These are very rare; really, if you are buying them from an old man who is not altogether "with it", you could probably take advantage of that. But it wouldn't be the right thing to do.
There is a price zone in there (neither a lowball 'steal' nor necessarily the 'maximum' what he could get) where you could make a fair offer still a bit below market value.. and have the transaction be fair to you, and him. You would get a good deal, he would get a decent value for what he has, and everyone would feel good about the whole thing.
This is what I urge you to strive for.
Forgive my Emily Latella moment there. I meant to speak on buying the cymbals. We've been on the sell road so often lately, I passed right over it on this one. What I'm trying to say is - Please don't take advantage of the old man. Let us help you get the proper value of the cymbals and then make a reasonable offer. If you came to us for help with the value of the cymbals, then we would hope that you would be ethical in your dealing. Sorry...I'm just in knee-jerk mode. ... or maybe just 'jerk' mode. Either way - play fair. That's all I'm trying to say.
Thanks.
Medication kicking in . . . 3, 2, 1........oh yeah. That's the stuff.
Show us a photo of the engraved stamp instead. The weight is also kind of important... did you check out that link that I've sent you?
Assuming the weights are in a good range (i.e. not super-heavy...and just from the pic the 16 doesn't look super-heavy to me)...
Worth around $300-400 for the 16.
eBay auctions have been funny lately...a nice one sold last week for $207 which is LUDICROUSLY LOW.
And within a few days of that, one sold for $610...which is INSANELY HIGH...STUPIDLY HIGH....probably a bid war; but whoever won that cymbal paid way over market value.
Prices have dropped back down significantly since W and his band of idiots almost destroyed the global economy...
A year ago prices were insane...probably the last gasp of the "immediate gratification" crowd. But now we are looking at 2003-ish market values again (thank goodness and about time).
So offering $275-325 for the 16 would be a fair deal for both of you.
The 14 could be anywhere around $100-175.
These ranges for offering the gentleman would be reasonable and not taking advantage of him...and you would end up with a good deal as well.
Again, assuming they are not heavy cymbals.
