Carlton "Prince"

Many thanks Peoniam, really pleased i snared it from you buddy, a real bargain for a 30's snare drum and glad you like it too...cant wait to receive it today in the post! If you decide to sell the King just give me a shout!!

The "King" is the only drum that I'll never sell! It's the drum that I learnt on (six months on rudiments before touching a whole kit...!) - had it since 1980... IMO Carlton's are super quality UK drums. I always watch them, but don't always bid. ;)

Please give me a shout if you ever come across one of those levers!

...Do you have the Standard posted on here as would love to see it-what year is it?...$600-$800 was that each??

Hello Diamond,

Here's my Carlton Standard. I think it's 1935. My pricing is a bit skewed. I was trading the $600 drum for a chrome Hayman snare, and before my friend sent it, he found a small hole in it. It's got the right strainer and muffler, it's just some tiny hole that someone drilled in the shell. God knows why. So my friend being the generous sort, threw in the Carlton Standard to make up for the hole. I protested, but he did it anyway.

I traded an $800 drum for the King, straight up. Basically, I buy drums on ebay that he wants, but the seller won't ship overseas, and he sends me something from his extensive British and American drum collection. I'm pretty sure he has a Prince as well. May have to work another trade.

Be sure to post photos when you can.

Cheers buddy

I don't know much about it, except that it was Carlton's 2nd best snare drum back in the day. Very nice and rare drum. I have a friend in the UK who has one. He also traded with me for a Carlton King, which I love and use. I've also got a Carlton Standard, which is a fine drum as well. They made good drums.Cheers

Yo, The "King" was post war while the "Prince" was pre-war, funny how that worked out

Hi Dave, I won't be at the NDF but me mate Paul Bryans will be there with his Reno kit and my Carlton Kit, also the Compaksol Console and the Carlton Collapsible bass, I have 2 of these critters.

And here is that Joe Daniel's console, you liked in the pic, this is a very unique console, looks like it is made of stainless steel or heavy chrome. Has an Electra finish bass drum, die cast lugs with the matching snare
