I scored the blue sparkle kit in a lot of stuff, which included a Root Beer Whitehall kit I am keeping. What attracted me so much to the deal was that the blue kit is the 3 ply with re-rings....except for one of the toms is the thicker 6 or 9 ply with no rings. Thing is, it needs alot of parts. I was going to give someone a bargain because it would need so much money in parts - alot of lugs (half of them missing), T-rods, etc. So, instead, since my buyer was dragging his feet big time, I told him I am selling it off elsewhere and now he will have to buy one of my other kits - modern ones for like 250 or 300.
Anyhow - decided I would orphan it out and keep some of the parts for myself. I will be selling the 14 FT and 14 snare - both 6 luggers, some lugs and such, and perhaps the BD shell. It's a no-brainer to keep the wood hoops, as well as some Slinger-imitation tom lugs. The lugs on the BD are the double ended ones usually found on snares, with long T-rods - a totally custom job by a previous owner somewhere down the line. I already pulled the Slingerland cymbal arm mount off of it! I think 5 of the BD claws are American vintage something. The FT has faded to a purplish color.
Speaking of red sparkle....need any shells for it? I have 2 snare shells and a 13 inch tom shell.....no hardware, just bare shells. And BTW - the 6 lug snare shell is loosing shape (you know how they buckle sometimes) and this could serve as a donor for wrap....piece together enough for an inlay or something. let me know if you need any of that...just pay for shipping and you could have it for free (cover the PP fee please). The good snare shell is an 8 lug 3 ply with re-rings, as is the 13 tom (6 lug).
Yeah, Mikey, Jonnistix (John)....the health issues. I am SO relieved that both are ok - Mikey from the mysterious disappearance and John surviving the tornadoes (and other issues). Some on here may not know that both of these guys are really good guys - John is a giant in my eyes, a heart the size of Texas. Mikey is not the villain that some think he is. He makes up for his lack or organization and long turnarounds by the tremendous knowledge and part supply that he contributes to this community. Other than the wait, he is very professional with great packaging - very pro.
