Apollo Drums - ALL!

Loading...

Hello,

I feel like I might be the only person out there wanting to collect Apollo drums, but for some reason, they are the drums I love. Perhaps it's because my first kit was an old red sparkle Apollo.

I've been gathering parts and full kits of Apollo's ever since. However, they are a little hard to come by.

I am very interested in any and all Apollo drums people might have. Specifically, I have been hunting for a complete Starfinder Chrome kit (so far I only have a snare for that kit) and one of these

I have seen a lot of these drums come out of the St. Louis area, so if you live there, check your attic, you might have one hiding up there :)

Please contact me if you have any Apollo drums that you want to sell, or even if you have pictures, I would love to see them.

Thank you all for your time.

You should contact George Lawrence. He is a Japanese '60's drum guru and he owns a shop in Chicago, I believe.

Coincidentally.....

George Lawrence... is his ID here on this site.

I have an old set of Apollo drums . The previous ownr covered all the shells with some kind of vinyl except the snare. It is Red Sparkle. the only writing I can find on them is a small brass looking badge on the snare that reads "Apollo Worlds Supreme Quality Made in Japan.

Don't know if they interest ya but here's a link to where I'm selling them.

Hey Max!

The Apollos are plentiful in St. Louis because the now shuttered St. Louis Music used to distribute them in the 60s to area retailers -- one in particular was Mel Bay Music in Kirkwood.

My very first set (at 11 years old) was a 3 pc. in what was called Blue Agate -- alas, lost to history.

Two years ago my wife scored one just like it, but in the Ringo-looking Grey Agate, at a yard sale. It had a 60s Acrolite and a Speed King with it for only $20.

Three weeks ago she found another, this one in champagne sparkle; it included a '66 Supra and a Speed King. This time the whole shootin' match cost me $90.

Both sets were found in Kirkwood.

So I'm sitting here with 2 great snares and 2 great Speed Kings (nope, they don't squeak and two really cool stencils.

Wife went junkin' again this morning but no dice on any Apollos. Just as well, I'm outta cash.

I had a set of red sparkle Apollo's. I mixed them with a red sparkle set of Whitehall's for double kicks, 2-12's, 2-13's & 2-16's.

I've got pics somewhere.....

Hi

I bought this Apollo snare drum today online.

I know nothing about them. I did a Google search and it led me to this thread.

I've seen this type of snare case beforeThe Band

I'll post this and then read through the thread.
