Loading...

HY Sonor Champs in this Forum. Short time ago i found a cool Sonorbassdrum on a local garagesale. I bought it for 40 Euro...wich is closey 35 $ i think;-)

The only thing i know is that it is made in the year 1950-52(sometime in that era)

Would anybody know more about that series, and in wich konfiguration where that sets buildt?Help2

those are older than my teardrops. maybe pre sharktooth.

chances are, they came as 20, 16, 13, 14.

May be metric sizes though.

How are you being sure of the year made ?

That drum was made up to 56 and maybe 60.

It don`t belong to a series if you are sure it is 50-52 because Sonor only had four or five outfits in 50-52 and that aint part of it. The outfits they did have in those years had the pre-drop "sharktooth" lugs and knob tuneable lugs. This one is the lower end or selective stage band type. It would not be part of an outfit !i If it was a orchestra band order, it would have come with a killer fine tune snare that is super rare today !i It`s virgin so I`m leaning twords orchestra and not school.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Oddball is probably right. Without the tom mount and cymbal mount, this drum was probably sold for school use, as a freestanding bass drum or for a marching band Normally, for a marching band, there would have been some hardware attached for the harness . Mounted with the former bits of hardware it was catalogued as a G 210 and showed up in the Student 3 piece kit.

OK, i do have one leg for the drum, it can be attached the Hoop so it stands like a normal Bassdrum. There where a Snare with it, i will call the guy and buy it now;-)

I was searching in a sonor catalog of 52 and there was that same Bassdrum shown, thats why i think it must be that year....but i could be wrong!

At the picture you can see the Bassdrumspur, it is attached to the left and the right side of the Hoop!

And it is a metric Drum!Help2

Those hoop mounted spurs were common on basic bass drums. It was a cheap way of building up a kit. You need 2 of them. I have one more if you are interested( Canada) but one should be available locally for very little.

What's the metric size? Many sizes of heads are still available, in Germany in particular, off the shelf.

After looking around at the cats, you`re probably in the right years, the solid hoops are early, then they started adding mounts and wraps with inlay hoops. You can actually find it earlier but not with the script badge. Yours is in between the olive branch triangle and the double mallet badges. Early 50`s is a good call !i All the gear for standing or marching was clip-on, and you can find these options further in the catalogs. What`s the foot pedal ? Close up pics. ?
