30s Beverley Dual Snare drum finished

You can see where this started for me here

Well it took a couple of kindly members of the Mike Dolbear forum to have a new lug made and sent to me and another member getting all the lugs re-chromed. It's now finished.

Apart from the replacement lug and some tension rod washers the drum has been reassembled using the same parts it came with, including the calf heads. It all works despite its years of neglect and the complex nature of the internal mechanisms.

Johnl - surprisingly little cost involved. The replacement lugs (got 2 of them) were around $15 each + postage from England. The gentleman that got them made is restoring a wood version of the same drum and had the mold made and had enough lugs cast to send me a couple. The chroming of all the lugs cost $20 as they were slipped in with a batch of other parts. The rest was just time and elbow grease and patience. The drum cost me $30 in the beginning. All up about $100

BTW, the shell wasn't rechromed. Aluminium foil and water got it looking that good. And metal polish and wax of course.
