been doing more thinking.....after i get this kit all done and back together to play, the only thing it will be missing is badges. how will these drums be able to be identified if it has no badges??? thinking i might make some but not sure of design yet, i'll do some more thinkig on that. lol.

Drill a hole in the Susan B Anthony Dollar coins and give them a slight bend, can you get more hippy than that ?

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

i used to own a screen printing business and we use a spray adhesive to hold the shirt to the platten/table while it is printing. After printing several colors the shirt would lift off the platten and the surface would remain tacky until you built up a bunch of lint and had to reapply the adhesive.

I was thinking instead of using glue for your fabric which I think would soak through and leave a hardened surface, find an adhesive to hold the fabric down but be easy to remove in case you want to refinish down the road.

Check Napa or your local autobody supply store for a can of non permanent adhesive for fabric, like headliners or upholstery.

I also found this thread for you. DIY paltten adhesive for screen printing

Robyn, did you ask the people that you bought the fabric from about an adhesive? I was thinking something like ceramic tile adhesive spred on with a notched trowel ver thin. But I suppose it could bleed through. I think SuperCheif is on to something here.

ok got all 5 shells ready for the fabric, now just waiting for that to get here, may be up to 2 weeks b4 it gets here. man i don't know if i can wait that long, i'm ready to do some wrapping and get these drums back together. I'm pumped! all excited here.

here's a photo of the shells

they are a lit'l dusty yet but it will all clean off. i decided instead of painting a thick coat of paint on them i just stained them a bit. at least they all look the same now. i am very pleased with the way they turned out. the photos don't show what they really look like, i wish you all could actually see them in person, i think ya'd be proud of me, i hope anyway. besides...all that will be covered up when it's all said and done.

ok now that i got the shells all done...i guess i could clean up the rims and hardware while i'm waiting on the fabric to get here. ok back to the grindstone.

A bit off topic here but when I worked in a music store we bought a used Billy Cobham Tama Superstar set that was wrapped in a black spandex material with gold, red and purple screen printed lightning bolts and streamers on it, the spandex just stretched around the shells and the lugs and brackets bolted back on over it.

After removing it off of all 8 concert toms, 2 floor toms and 2 bass drums. Our book keeper kept a few of the pieces and she made a tube top and mini skirt.

Of course that was in the 80's...
