This project is finally done!! My tribute to Levon Helm, my drum hero. I started piecing this kit together about two years ago. Levon's death really saddened me, i'm real glad to have this kit to remember him. They're great fun to play, and they sound as good as they look! I also kept the light bulb in the bass drum installed flowers2 Enjoy

They really look great - and probably sound even better.

Could you perhaps let us know the specific sizes that you used to configure the kit ??

Then I'd really like to know the story on that rail mounted double bass drum muffler that you have installed on the resonant head _ seems like an elegant solution, and a design that I haven't seen before. Is it as effective as it looks?

SIZES:

25.5x12'' (aprox, bit out of round) Ludwig Universal Bass drum

15x3'' Ludwig Tango snare drum

14x8'' Unknown brand marching snare (converted to rack tom)

15x10'' Ludwig marching snare (converted to floor tom)

16x14'' Ludwig marching snare (converted to floor tom)

And as for that muffler, it caught my eye on eBay but i have no idea what make it is or where it's from. There's no marks on it but it's well made and in great shape. I only paid something like 15 bucks for it, I don't recall. Anyway, real cool design I've never seen before. Could fit a drum anywhere from about 20'' - 28''

I just stumbled on this thread when researching info for a Levon Helm style kit.

Great work!! And thanks for posting the details!

Just started building one as well. I have an 8x13 wood hoop Ludwig.. I have a 20-30's Rogers 14x15 and a W&A 4x14... Now I need the bass drum.

Looking for a 24 or 26. Let me know if you know of any. Again.. Thanks for the info and keeping the spirit of Levon going. :)

Great set...are the floor toms 15 & 16" if so 16" is hard to find single tension mahogany..congrats!
