Oh my what a beautiful kit! Congratulations on the incredible results of your hard work. That set just oozes personality. Bet it sounds great, too.

You really nailed the actual kit he played as seen in the rehersal video. The clip from The Weight has him playing a kit that was put together for the video from a back line equipment vendor.

Never play it the same way once.

I too have wondered how your kit came out from the original thread. Fantastic job on those! What a labour of love. Thanks for posting.

Awesome kit. Levon is my favorite too. I had the pleasure of meeting Levon a handful of times and playing with him at his Midnight Ramble. He would have loved your kit. When he passed away last April I felt like I lost a great friend. Everytime I sit behind a set of drums I am reminded of him and his great smile.

Would love to hear some sound files of you playing this kit. Great work!!!

Really nice looking kit! I'm on a similar quest as you. Levon's early snare sound is my all time favorite. Nice job.

Thanks everyone !!!!

@orangemi correct, I noticed he had two wooden hoop sets, he played a different one on the last waltz. thanks for the info I wondered where he got those newer ones! He bought the older ones from a pawn shop in '69. I loved the look and sound of those ones.

@Drummer84 you are blessed to have spent time with Levon, I only wished I could've seen him play or shook his hand. Oh and sometime, I might take a video or something of me playing em stay tuned haha

@BerneseMtnDog you've gotta get yourself a 30's/20's single tension wooden hooped Ludwig or Leedy snare, put a coated head on it, and muffle the s*** out of the thing with a cloth ;) He also said in his autobiography that he taped the bottom head in just the right places to get the sound he wanted on the brown album. *EDIT just saw the thread about your leedy bass drum, looks like you've got it figured out, congrats on the find very nice drums !!
