Beautiful kit, looks very nice indeed..

I saw it before but did not realize that you had the 14" as well.

Do you play it with this tom set up? .. I have long arms but the 14 looks almost out of reach. I think I'd need to stand mount that one..

Cheers

Vintagemoore:

Thank you, I got these back in may '12 and all the hardware came with it so no searching there. I'd be happy with just the drums but the hardware is a major bonus. The snare that came with it was a '66 Supra so I sold that to fund the Krupa SK. The drums s/n's are all in the 49k 50k range so I found a snare that is 20k. The Supra pretty much paid for all the drums. The only other things I had to find were rims for the 14" tom and 7 T-rods and claws for the BD. The rims for the 14" tom were there but were very warped and flaking. Miraculously the tom was perfectly in round. The rods took me a while to find being an early variation of the 70's style but just recently got them allowing me to finish the set.

Gerald:

Thank you, I'd love to see some pics of yours. The maroon sparkle sounds dreamyCool1

Thank you Longjohn,

I've gigged the set a number of times as a 5 pc but I haven't actually played it fully set up like this yet since I just finished the cleanup. At the moment, the batter on the bass is broken and the head I put on the 14" tom is a concave head that was expelled from another snare. New heads coming tonight. My '81 Slingerland Magnums have the Magnum triple tom mount and it definitely opens up another dimension for some cool fill patterns. I'll probably end up putting it on a separate stand though if I use the whole set on gigs since it will probably make me look like the unknown drummer.

How did you clean that satin flame finish? I may be picking up one in a blue satin flame, but it has some scratches, thanks.

Scrubbing bubbles and lots of Bounty paper towels. One section (or panel) at a time. Let the bubbles sit and do their job, wipe away with paper towels and repeat if necessary until the towels wipe up without turning brown. There's a few threads on it. Just look up "Cleaning Satin Flame" and you'll get the results.

Simply "stunning"!THANKS for sharing.

Thank you OldSchool, I'm just honored to be able to share what I have with all the other unbelievably beautiful drums submitted to these galleries by fellow VDF members. My drums mainly just needed a cleaning and polishing. It took me a while since I tried to be as meticulous as possible. But the work I've seen here by you guys who resurrect complete basket cases is unbelievable.
