Rogers XP8 re-wrap

Anything in mind for your next kit? After I get the Rogers kit done I think I'd like to look for a nice Ludwig Vistalite kit. Down the road I would like a older DW kit too. But we're a ways off on those. Maybe the kids will be on their own by then and I can expand the drum room. ;)

I dont have any Gretsch drums. I goofed up a chance to get a round badge bass and tom last year, maybe he still has them but I doubt it. I guess it will depend on what C/L produces for me this summer. I want something with original wrap. Its fun to re-wrap but you cant get better than vintage pearls or sparkles.

Thank you!

That would be sweet. I'd love some Gretsch RB's someday too. I should really start a bucket list of drums I want to have. Your so right on the original wraps and finishes too.

I am a total fan of taking someone's "junk" and making it not only functional, but DESIRABLE...And as far as Memri-lok hardware,I still have a weighted boom stand bought for me by my grandparents in "74...no"planned obsolescence"there. Is there a place to view all your "babies"?Are they all posted here?

Dang $15 for some Kents sure is being in the right place at the right time!! I keep scoping out CL but it's slim pickin's here sometimes and the deals go fast.

Jeff,

Got a "finish" question for you...

Among other projects, I've got a Ludwig Jazzette repro (18/14/12) that's just waiting on an order of Ludwig parts (which should show up in the next couple of days) and wrapping them (and then of course re-assembling them). The wrap I've got set aside is a darker stain (maybe even walnut) on maple, as it's some of the pre-finished PSA veneer I got last summer.

It's "top-coat" is a "matte" (non-glossy) finish. Is there anything I can do to change that to a gloss? (And remember, I'm a rattle-can type of guy!)

If we lived closer I'd just bring them over!

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, probably just light sand with some 320 and spray with a clear gloss "rattle can" You should do a small test peice first, give it a couple days to make sure the two finishes get along. I had to spray some doors last summer that had an unknown finish on them. I was told by my rep to spray shelac on them first, then use my regular lacquer, you might consider doing that as a safe guard. Wish you did live closer!
