Late 60´s(?) STAR in grey shimmer

Hi John,

Simply great - thanks! I think those staggered lugs will be even more rare than the wrap of both sets.

It'll be a hard decision which you - unfortunately - will have to let go, huh? CryBaby I couldn't tell ...

Ralf

NB: ... finally, I'd keep the 'grey shimmer' (well, I have a Premier's 'grey shimmer' which seems to be the 'mother wrap' for these MIJ copies), as I have a soft spot for it. ;)

I am going to sell one of these (unless I can manage some miraculous financial feat!) but I am not sure which one. It will likely be several months before I get around to offing one if I do. Right now the Grey Shimmer is completely disassembled and clean - just waiting for edgework.....and the Grey Oyster is as it looks - all put together but not set up and not clean either. John

Hi John:

I might be interested in that Grey Oyster kit by the time you're ready ... a couple months to finish up a few other projects I have on line right now might be just perfect. It would be a good second MIJ for me ... Star/20,12,14/9ply/Oyster to compliment my Pearl/20,13,16/3ply/Sparkle kit. Please keep me in mind and shoot me a PM when you're ready (guessing you can PM here, I haven't tried).

And thanks for bumping up this thread ... I would have never seen it ... Beautiful drums Lissy.

Unfortunately...sorry for the tease you guys. This is a pending sale now to a very good friend. I'm in the middle of the resto and it is just killing me to let this one go! The silver lining is that it is going to a good friend of mine who I know will treat it well and it won't be too far away from me, so to speak. I will post pics somewhere on the site when I am done.

I am wondering if I will ever again find an MIJ in this color??

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Hi all, today I snagged this Star kit in a grey shimmer wrap - has anybody ever seen one like this before? I didn´t know Star offered this finish back in the day.I was really lucky to get all the drums and accessories pictured below for a price another guy would probably only sell the included cymbals for!Of course there was one hitch - I had to drive from Stuttgart to Cologne, about 400km one way. So I had to spend (almost!) the whole day on the German Autobahn. But - at that price I couldn´t resist. The bottom heads of both the toms, the front head and both the snare heads (and even the snares!) are original. The seller told me that he got this kit from it´s first owner, an old man, who had purchased it new back in the 60´s!Sorry for the crappy pictures, I only have a cell phone camera and the lighting is bad at the moment (4.00 AM in Germany).

Hello

The finish is called silky white, premier named there finish grey shimmer.
