I would think a fair price for just the shell's would be 275.00 maybe 300.00 to the right guy..I would also say if you added the stand's and cymbal's 375.00 to 400.00..Its a nice looking set and a somewhat rare finish to fine......Mikey
What $ Should I Ask For Resored MIJ?
Thanks guys, lots of good points. I think it really does boil down to the right buyer in a case like this. I would like to see it go to someone who'll appreciate it for what it is, and not just some kid's starter kit that could end up being abused, or neglected. I suppose that once I sell it, it doesn't really matter, but I'd feel better. Judging from the variety of opinions expressed here, I'm thinking that my original plan is still sound as it seems to fall pretty much in the middle. I certainly don't expect to be compensated for all my restoration time, (that was the fun part) but I do believe it is worth something, and if I can appeal to the right Christmas shopper, then I'm thinking; a nicely restored, shiny, vintage drum kit would make more of an impression under the tree than... well, anything less shiny. See if I can manage to get ad posted later today, and perhaps put a link here as well. Thanks again for all the assistance.

Good luck with your sale. That kit looks really great and your description is spot on.

Thanks for sending your add. You didn't mention, that you'll throw in an 18" Super Zyn, didn't you? That Premier cymbal is a valuable one and worth minimum 100 bucks ... (Well, but that's my little opion.)
I'd sell that specific one separately.

Thanks Ralf. One of the great things about this forum, how members, like yourself will watch each other's backs. I am aware this cymbal has some potential value, and I'd been hanging onto this one for a little while. I wanted to keep this kit as 'vintage' as I could, and I thought that one matched the kit nicely. Not as nice, or in demand as a Zildjian, but better than what would have originally come with the kit. If potential buyer isn't fussy about vintage, I do have a couple of Sabian 20" B8s, (that to my ears sound better) that I could substitute one of. Originally planned to offer with another 18" regular Zyn that I also have, but I found that it was just sounding too trashy. Decided to sacrifice the Super Zyn for the sake of the kit. Sometimes it's not all about profit. I remember my first kit, and the nasty little pie plates that it came with. It didn't matter how well I played, those cymbals sounded like doodie, and it was very discouraging. I try to make it a point to try and match any kit that I sell with relatively decent cymbals. I just feel better about it.

Oh man....!
I was just in Ottawa last week, but barely went on the VDF or the internet, as I was there for business, and didn't see this post until today, and now I'm back at home. (Ottawa is a beautiful city, by the way, always like going there....)
Nice job on those Coronets. I think your price is excellent. I would have loved to see them..... and like others on this forum, once I see a nice set, I have a hard time walking away!!
Anyway, good luck with the sale. I can't imagine you will have to wait long.
Happy holidays!
