Did Premier produce Acrylic drums ???

Hi Folks,

Yesterday I saw a very rare bird.

Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera.

Next week, I will have a look at it again (with camera). For now I'll try to describe.

It was a 6,5" transparent Acrylic snare with a Premier badge.

The logo itself wasn't the regular red "P" on black background but a red "P" on a red background. It didn't have the typical cast Premier hoops. In stead it had steel hoops. Strainer and lugs seemed late Premier 70's to early 80's.

In all the drum looked a regular factory product.

The owner explained that it was a Premier prototype manufactured in very limited quantities.

Anybody ever came across an Acrylic Premier snare ???

Keith Moon had an acrylic kit at on point, but the lugs look like they are slingy and the tom mounts look like Rogers. Interesting that he was with Premier and would be using those drums. Not to mention the floor tom with goldfish inside.

Agree with Mikey.

To me it looks as remastered kit with some Premier parts on new shells

Yes, Premier made a limited number of kits, the one kit belonged to Andy Youell in the UK and was sold to the late Bob Pengilly and his wife Rose still has the kit. It is a smokie black in colour with diecast hoops and pointy lugs.
