Great Premier score!

Hi guys,

Just showing off an amazing Premier kit that I scored today.

Not sure yet but it seems to be a late 1950's New Continental outfit with a gorgeous Royal Ace, bongo's and a 20" Trixon floor tom in the same Gold Sparkle finish.

Everything is there,... hardware, Premier cases, sticks and most heads are still the original ones.

The wrap is faded but compared to other Premiers I saw, it's tight with only a few minor cracks.

I've been on the look out for one of these quite some time.

This one is definitely a keeper.!

I'll post some pictures in the "restore" section of the cleaning progress.

Wow. I am absolutely stunned by the natural beauty of that kit. It looks so perfect to my eyes. Wow.

and including most of the correct hardware too!. that is a very fine find. curious about the later mount on the bass drum. was this converted to a double tom kit , sometime after it was purchased?

If that is the original finish on the Trixon; it was called Glass Sparkle( TX 16) in their catalogues. There was also a Champagne Sparkle (TX 17). The Trixon Gold Sparkle has a decided yellow gold colour to it . It's exactly the same wrap as this one http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=46525&d=1343678892

Wow and Wow! Both of those kits are stunning. To find an aquamarine sparkle kit in that condition is really rare. Congratulations to both of you!

Thanks Fellas,

Calfskin,… the color isn't the gold sparkle like in your picture.

At first I thought the color on these Premiers was a badly faded gold sparkle but it isn't. Whit all the hardware removed, the color under lugs and tom mount plate is still exactly the same.

To my knowledge, the only sparkles that premier offered in the late 50's to early 60's were: silver, gold, red and the gorgeous Aquamarine. Question remains,… which color is this?

The massive 20" Trixon is in the exact same finish like the rest of the kit.

The second tom mount on the bass drum looks factory to me or at least done by a pro in the same period the drum was originally purchased.

I bought the set from a guy who had it from the first owner's widow. Her husband passed away back in 1976 and she kept the drums in loving memory until 2 weeks ago in their original cases. Originally the kit had a set of 1960's Zildjians but those were sold seperately.

Nice detail,... the person I bought it from is Cesar Zuiderwijk's personal drum techie. Mr. Zuiderwijk is Dutch drum guru and drummer of Golden Earring. (Radar Love,… I've been driving all night my hands wet on the wheel,... !)

They're a couple of nice bits and pieces that came with the set, for example a Ajax sizzle device. (no idea how you call these things)

That's amazing! The Bongos are rare. To have them in a complete kit is jaw dropping. Fantastic find!

I was wrong there. That's not the kit I was thinking about.-----doesn't matter---it's a fine drum kit ; doesn't need videos to represent it. curious still about the Trixon tom. is it 20" or the pre-'64 metric measure 500mm( 19 3/4"). There were a few later teardrop lug ones , that were actually 20" shells-----usually Birch in that period.
