Wow!! What vintage would this snare be? I like the way that the tension rod collars are attached right to the hoops...Remarkable engineering for the time...

I started the resto work on my Leedy/Ludwig marching snare (pic in first post)...Right now, I`m polishing up all the hardware...All fairly rusty, but, they are buffing up nice though with my extra fine wire wheel...

I will post pics when finished...

The Ol'69 Ludwig fifth grade band snare drum... I don't know if my parents got it new or used but I do remember it came from McClurgs music in Lancaster, Ohio. I beat on her pretty good. When I dug it out some 40 years later I was a little more in the know and glad to see that Keystone! It has gut snares.

This 4.5x14 George Way started out as a 10x14 marching snare. Does that count?

The vintage on the Duplex would be around 1880. The engineering was very cool and my understanding is that Duplex had the first patent on a dual tension rod drum.

This one has a 1960 date stanp inside. it's an odd size for a parade drum. I speculate that it was a band room/concert drum. It measures 10" deep by 15"across. I have a complete late 60's Black Sparkle Slingy drum set (20--two 12s--14) in the same finish. So, I'm toying with either cutting this one down to no deeper than six inches or using it for a wrap donor once I find a Slingy snare in need of new clothes.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

My late 50's Slingerland marching snare. I found the shell with the lugs and muffler in an antique shop. Through several member here on the forum I was able to get all the parts I needed to finish it. It was amazing to finally hear this drum.
