Value of a Belloti

Loading...

I am wondering if someone on here can help me learn an approximate value of a Belloti cymbal. This was made in Italy, 50s-70s, considered rare.

How rare is it?

How much is it worth - surely as a collector's piece rather than something to be played (cracks).

I did find a few things on the Internet about these: WIKI info, this - http://www.olympicdrums.com/Bellotti12Pair.html

and also

and 18 incher priced for $2K --- http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40921

then this - http://www.olympicdrums.com/Bellotti12Rivet.html ----no cracks, sizzle, selling for $165.

If anyone wanted to play this - it would work (only) as a HH bottom, as I don't believe that playing would ever induce the buzz of the cracks. I have done so and it works well being so thick.

The one is question here is very thick - 12 3/8s inches...935grams

See pics - I have taken a ton of them and am uploading ample.

Thanks so much for any insight/ help!

I have used this as a bottom HH and it does not buzz or rattle. I wouldn't think using it like that would worsen any of the cracking, since it would need to at least buzz in order to do more damage (I would think). But indeed correct me if that is not a safe assumption.

I have quite a few cracked old cymbals of the most prized names, Istanbul K's, Constantinoples, 602s etc. etc., They can be played at home as quirky special effect cymbals, or displayed, but they are broken, & as far as the market goes they are worth next to zero. They can be picked up for $5-$10. This is the value I would put on your cymbal.

tdennis - with all due respect.......

While I have deemed this cymbal usable as a HH bottom, clearly the value would be determined by the rarity of this cymbal. I understand it is considerably more rare than the aforementioned cymbals.

Would you still pay $200,000 for a crushed Rolls ?

There is a major difference between a crushed Rolls, as it would not even be recognizable as a Rolls, and would not even have a chance as usability.

This cymbal is totally recognizable and indeed usable. Many pieces in a collection are not always intended for use, though in fact this one can be used despite its less than optimal condition.

---Collectibility here moreso than the indeed value as a cymbal to use---

These cracks result in a more affordable discounted collectors piece.

Are you indeed willing to sell these cymbals for $5-$10 each? I know many people who would be more than happy to take those off your hands. If this indeed is a valid argument, then you would be more than willing to hand over these cymbals, are you?

I`m see`n at least eight major non repairable cracks,..sure someone could use it as a HH, but a HH will crush it more. As a museum piece,..I see what ya mean,..but not alot of value monetarily there !! It`s not like it`s two hundred years old or even thousands of years,..99% of the collectors will say it`s worthless, except as a museum showpiece !!

Any Idea who smashed it all up ?
