I've got a 14" Paiste Forumula 602 cymbal that I picked up with a 1967 Ludwig kit some time ago. I'm not using it and I plan on selling it to raise some funds for another project. I'm not exactly sure of its age. I'm guessing it's a 60s piece and perhaps part of a hi-hat set. Any help in identifying date and possible "fair market price" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and your help!
Paiste Formula 602
What is the serial # ? ..& is there a PAISTE stamp above the number ?
it's a pre serial numbered 602
One half of a set of 602 medium hi-hats. Great hats. On it's own, I'd say between $100 - $200. Depends on the weight too. There are people out there with orphans looking - probably more of the bottoms around. That one looks like a bottom hat, although it's a bit hard to tell. Not a great difference between the top and bottom in these. I have a set that are 830/890. I had an orphan and I paid $150 for a mate. I have four sets of 602 hats and they're all great. Funny thing is that after years of that glassy sound, I bought a kit with a pair of 60's Zildjian Newbeats and though "wow! They sounded very dark compared to the Paiste's. Played them in my studio for months. Then I took them on a gig and it was like I was playing a set of practice pads. I couldn't wait to put a set of 602's back into the bag. I'm selling the A's.
Part of a hihat pair, no serial? weight determines whether top or bottom, top would be worth more, not sure what it would be worth. Is there any ink on them?

I guess right there is the difference between the Zildjian B20s and the Paiste B20s. It makes perfect sense that the Paistes would be brighter sounding, even if it was the same metal (generally speaking) ; as the brighter and higher pitch is what the Paiste designers go for. Of course, these are two samples and there could be exceptions to rules I suppose. I have never played any 602 HHs but I would be very impressed with some HHs that sound better than some New Beats - hard to imagine honestly.

Oldschool, I have a Paiste 14" bottom hat. It came with a kit I bought last year. I have often wondered what it was worth and if I could ever find the top hat to go with it. If yours is the top, I might be interested if it is the correct one. Here is a picture.

Thank you!

By the way, I know its a bottom because it has a stamp (in red ink) on it. I used it as a top, and a Paiste 302 ( German made serial # 275536) as the bottom hat. It sounded good, kinda.
Thank you!

Another forum member forwarded a PM, with a possible interest in the cymbal. I promised him that I'd send it out to him to have a look to see if it was something he could use. If it doesn't work out, I'll be in touch. THANKS!
