I'll try to get measurements the next time I'm at the museum. I agree, it does look small, but I think the man was also very large. Another thing to keep in mind was A. Willard was not formally trained, so he might be off on his perspective a little. The center character is a combination of three men. The body of the original drum owner & the person he lent the drum to and Willard's father. After the American Exposition the younger drummer's father bought the painting and it's now hanging in the owner's hometown of Marble Head, Massachusetts.

Thanks,

Tim

Perhaps one doesn't see many marching Vistalites as a result of the rough treatment given Parade snares. (Ludwig 1975 catalog, p.43)

Very impressive Olimpass!! How does the snare "fit in" with the rest of the kit tonally?

Cheers

wads: Hey I'm curious as to the "feel" of playing a deep marching snare with the drum kit. Is it cumbersome? Coffee Break2

Currently working on a 7 piece virgin double bass 3 ply early 70's Ludwig kit to be wearing....MOD ORANGE.
